Ducati 916/955/985 Biposto/SP

Ducati 916/955/985 Biposto/SP

Also the 916 models should be equipped at first with a light flywheel and an adapted megazone eprom. The fuel intake and the torque process and/or the maximum performance are affected very favorably with it.
In addition we recommend using a large Pure Tec race filter to prevent the engine from dirt and sand. The original filter elements are naturally removed then. With this 5 times bigger air volume the bike can breath more freely!

These small changes should always be installed. And it’s a easy job to do without dissembling the engine. Whether road or race is insignificant thereby. To much driving fun is given away if you drive with standard components. If you change the original exhaust system and/or the original air filter to aftermarket parts you always have to change the eprom anyway. If not the engine will get to lean and damages results!

The cam timing and/or squeezing edge adjusting effects also a improved performance development. The maximum performance increases also accordingly.

Here is an before/after example:

  • Diagram HP
  • Diagram Torque

To the 916 SP the same applies. With tuning regarding capacity the housing and/or construction unit load sinks. So If reequipped on 955 cc a longer housing life can result. Tuning with larger valves and sharper cam shafts for the further increase of rpm level affect the housing firmness again negatively. Other housings are
available as Racing variants or as newer housings with strengthened walls.
At 916 Strada and SP engines you can directly change to 955 cc (96mm bore). At Biposto models it does not fit directly ,you have to mashine the crank house to a bigger bore seize from the liners .

  • Bipo has original approx. 106-110 hp, reworked to 955 cc approx. 116-120 hp
  • Strada has original approx. 109-113 hp, reworked to 955 cc approx. 119-123 hp
  • 916 SP has original approx. 122-125 hp, reworked to 955 cc approx. 132-135 hp

Here are a few examples of performance increase at a 916 SP with 955 cc.
-Example one is 916 SP with cam time micro-adjustment and squeezing edges and/or reworking of combustion chambers.
-Example 2 in the diagram is a 916 SP with 955 cc
-Example 3 in the diagram is a 916 SP with 955 cc and cylinder head reworked on 36-30mm valves:

  • Hp
  • Torque

At Bipostos also SP cams can be installed if the piston rods are adapted to the rpm increase. We recommend Carrillo rods. Naturally the crankshaft must be balanced then. Further the Biposto and SP valves can be increased to 35-30mm. Brings with the consideration of the restrictions above approx.. 4-6 hp. The 955 cc variant can be supplemented by the use of a long stroke crankshaft of far on 985 cc. The long crankshaft results in a very harmonious performance when used in Bipostos and/or SP models. Extremely spontaneously and very strongly at the gas and also much rpm to drive. Torque without end! SP with long crankshaft had already once 135 Nm and 142 Hp!

Other tuning opportunities after consulation. See examlpe diagram with 431 camshafts and 54mm throttle bodies.
